This photo of the tower shows the Eye of God feature (to the left of the bottom of the star) which villagers believed protected them from the evil of the Lancashire Witches.

There are two dates on the tower, 1633 and 1712 which probably refer to rebuilding dates. There is also a stone recording the names of four churchwardens and masons dated 1740. |
